Three days built around snow: a full day in Baku, then north into the Greater Caucasus for skiing and winter activities at Shahdag, with two nights in the mountains.
Shahdag is Azerbaijan's principal ski destination, built recently and to international specification, with runs across a range of abilities, snowmaking on the main pistes, equipment hire and instruction available. It is markedly cheaper than comparable European skiing and considerably less crowded.
The drive up through the Candy Cane Mountains and Quba Forest is worthwhile in its own right, and under snow the striped hillsides look entirely different from their summer appearance.

Frequently asked questions
When does the ski season run at Shahdag?
Typically December into March or April, depending on snowfall. Conditions vary year to year, so message us before booking for specific dates and we will tell you honestly what the slopes are doing.
Is ski equipment included?
No. Lift passes, equipment hire and instruction are all paid at the resort and are not part of the package price, which covers the vehicle, driver and transfers.
What if there is no snow?
The lifts run year-round and Shahdag has a full non-ski activity programme, so the trip still works. But if snow is the whole point of your trip, ask us before booking — we would rather move your dates than have you arrive disappointed.
